Recognizing that professional school counselors devote their careers to serving as advocates for Texas students and ensuring student success, the Lone Star State School Counselor Association (LSSSCA) School Counselor of the Year (SCOY) Award honors outstanding professional school counselors in Texas. Through an extensive outreach process, school counselors, teachers, administrators, and others are encouraged to nominate professional school counselors who run exemplary school counseling programs.
The Lone Star Award is an award that recognizes effective and outstanding school counseling programs in the state of Texas. The Lone Star Award prepares school counselors to apply for the national ASCA RAMP award.
The Lone Star Awards recognizes comprehensive counseling programs that are data-driven, developmentally appropriate, and delivered to all students with the goal of improving student outcomes, closing achievement and opportunity gaps, and preparing students for post-secondary success.

This leader demonstrates vision, collaboration, and unwavering support for the role of school counselors in fostering student academic, social/emotional, and career development.
The School Counselor Supervisor of the Year Award celebrates a supervisor who provides exemplary leadership, mentorship, and advocacy for school counselors. This award acknowledges dedication to building strong counseling programs, supporting counselor professional growth, and ensuring equitable access to services for all students.
The Campus Administrator of the Year Award honors a principal or campus administrator who actively supports and champions school counseling initiatives. This leader creates a culture where school counselors can thrive and ensures students benefit from a comprehensive counseling program that addresses their academic, social/emotional, and career needs.
The Regional School Counselor Support of the Year Award recognizes outstanding service and leadership from a regional level in advancing school counseling. This award is presented to an individual or team who has significantly strengthened the profession through training, resources, and advocacy across districts and communities.
Selected personally by the President of LSSSCA, this award honors an individual who has made a significant impact on the organization or the school counseling profession. The recipient exemplifies dedication, service, and leadership that align with the mission and vision of LSSSCA.
